Article 17 of the African Youth Charter highlights the important role of youth in peace and security, through the strengthening of the capacity of young people and youth-led bodies in peace building and conflict prevention; use of education among others to promote a culture of peace and tolerance among youth; and mobilize youth for post-conflict reconstruction, rehabilitation, reconciliation and development of affected areas. YSK is running a series forum dubbed “Interfaith Dialogue on Violent Extremism” the program is designed to highlight and leverage the soft power of religion in preventing violent extremism in Kenya. YSK is also designing a regional program that is aimed to strengthen the capacities of young people in management of association, crisis and conflict prevention, and youth contribution to early warning for peace and security in the eastern Africa regions.
